System Requirements
To Install and use PC-DMIS you will need:
- Windows Operating System (Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000
or Windows XP). Note that Windows
95, Windows 98, and Windows ME are no longer supported
and PC-DMIS 3.5 will NOT function on computers using
these operating systems.
- Graphics card that supports OpenGL shading. We cannot
specify an exact graphics card since every user has varying
needs.
- Pentium-III or higher processor.
- 128MB of RAM is recommended but significantly more may
be required if working with large CAD models.
- 250MB of free hard drive space minimum for the application.
- SVGA capable monitor.
- CD-ROM drive.
|
Depending on your specific
needs, the recommended system specifications
for this version of PC-DMIS may be much higher. Be sure
to consult with your PC-DMIS distributor to find out
the type of computer system you will need in order to
run this software at its optimum capability.

New Features & Enhancements
Version 3.5's major features and enhancements
include the following:
Other enhancements are described in these categories
|
NEW USER INTERFACE
A New user interface layout was created that made it possible to include
the following features:
- User specific layout profiles that are accessed and saved based
on the Windows OS User Name.
- Layouts that are user customizable for every different operator.
- Support for adding/removing menus via a new interface Customize
dialog.
- Support for adding/removing buttons to toolbars via the Customize
dialog.
- A dockable Edit Window.
32 BIT LANGUAGE SUPPORT
Support was added for 32 bit character set languages including
translations of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. This now makes it
possible to translate PC-DMIS into any language commonly in use
in the world based on customer demand and local support.
MOVE TO REGISTRY SETTINGS
All of the PC-DMIS saved settings contained in the formerly used
PCDLRN.INI file were transferred to the Windows Registry for better
protection, usability, and performance. Along with this:
- A Settings Editor was created that provides access to the PC-DMIS
specific items in the Windows Registry for ease of changing, saving,
exporting, importing and deleting while not in the PC-DMIS environment.
- Auto Feature parameters were added into the Windows Registry
saved settings. - Registry settings for automation were also added.
- A ClearWAIKeys.exe utility was also created to facilitate complete
removal of PC-DMIS settings from the Windows Registry.
- New installations of version 3.5 will automatically search
for the PCDLRN.INI file and copy the settings into the Windows
Registry if the file exists.
NEW 'QUICK START'
TOOLBAR
A new Quick Start toolbar was created to assist operators by creating
a more simplified user interface. Easy graphical access is now provided
to feature measurement routines, Auto Features, Dimensions, and
Constructions as well as having many predefined measurement routines
useful in creating relationships and alignments. It is also inclusive
of easy access to probe utilities.
DIRECT CAD INTERFACE
TRANSLATORS
Direct CAD Interface (DCI) translators are now available for Unigraphics,
CATIA, and Pro-Engineer. This is an ability to provide one-pass
CAD file translation when the Direct CAD Interface (zero-pass, zero
translation) is not available and two-pass file translation (IGES,
STEP, VDA, etc.) is undesirable.
Back
to Enhancements
PROBE UTILITIES ENHANCEMENTS
- Automated probe calibration of all tools in a probe changer
or stylus changer rack.
- Identifiable parameter sets are now used in probe calibration
that allow the user to save calibration specific information such
as prehit, move speed, hit points and associate them with a specific
probe file.
- The full path name of the currently used probe file is shown
in the Probe Utilities dialog and can also be seen in the Edit
Window.
- Access to the Search Path from the Probe Utilities dialog is
now available.
SCANNING ENHANCEMENTS
- Rotary Scan capability which allows scan at a fixed distance
about an axis and parallel to that axis and with freedom of movement
in that axis.
- UV patch scans can now be easily defined and created though
the scan dialogs.
- Scanning with FINDNOMS, RELEARN and no CAD will construct a
curve from the new data and compares the closest points of the
curve to the original scan points. This allows analog scanning
with a comparison to a previous data set.
- Added option to maintain current hit increment at the end of
a patch scan line to the next line segment. This is to produce
smoother data for surfacing and reverse engineering applications.
This is for TTP only.
- An Auto Move capability similar to that used in Auto Features
was added to all scan types.
- An ability in Scanning to reset boundary points back to zeroes.
This is particularly useful when creating consecutive patch scans
with a lot of boundary points.
- A NULLFILTER method was added for taking points in Direction
1 with analog probes to maintain a regular hit interval based
on the Point Density and not filter these points based on the
hit increment.
CONSTRUCTIONS ENHANCEMENTS
- The construction of arcs and lines from scans is now possible.
- Ellipses can now be constructed from points.
- Added support to create an intersection point between an ellipse
and a line.

ENHANCEMENTS
- Added the symmetry dimension.
- Added the ability to save the state of datum conditions for
true position dimensioning for repetitive dimensioning for similar
features.
- Added the ability to put a limit on the number of characters
that can be entered into a trace field value. The default is 15
but this can now be set to a smaller number.
- Added the ability to dump/delete the XSTATS11.TMP file from
inside the PC-DMIS environment.
- Added the ability to display dimensions and constructed features
from an attached part program in feature list boxes.
- Limited the feature list for dimensions to appropriate feature
types for the Dimension dialog that has been opened.
- Added the ability to only show dimensions in the report that
falls within a specific percentage of the defined tolerance.
- Forced Point Info and Dimension Info dialogs to redraw when
the underlying dimensions are updated in learn mode.

- Added the ability to edit feature hits for some Measured and
Auto Features in the graphics window.
- Added the capability to control the amount of each radius measured
on Round Slots in Auto Features.

will flow along the part when using an SP600 probe.
MASTER / SLAVE ENHANCEMENTS
