Operating System Support for PC-DMIS

Affected Versions: 4.3, 4.3 MR1, 4.3 MR2, 4.3 MR3, 2009, and 2009 MR1

With the recent release of Microsoft’s latest Windows 7 operating system there have been many questions regarding support for PC-DMIS. The first release of PC-DMIS which officially supports* the Windows 7 operating system (32-bit & 64-bit) is PC-DMIS 2010.

Windows 7 was released by Microsoft on October 22, 2009. All of the affected versions listed above were developed prior to the Windows 7 release date. These versions can function in the Windows 7 operating system but are not officially supported and have not been extensively tested there. Please note that there are no special installation instructions required for these earlier versions of PC-DMIS when installing on a Windows 7 formatted PC.

The Windows XP (32-bit & 64-bit) operating systems are currently supported. No specific changes are planned to prevent it from functioning going forward, although Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows XP as of April 2009. Over time, our internal testing efforts on this operating system will taper off.

As always, if there are any questions regarding operating system support please contact your local Hexagon Technical Support office or refer to the product specific webpage:

* Note that the Matrox Framegrabber used with PC-DMIS Vision does not support a 64-bit operating system.
