Microsoft Hotfix AVAILABLE

Some PC-DMIS users are encountering "out of memory" and "runtime" errors when using PC-DMIS on Windows XP with Service Pack 2. After some investigation, we have found that the default Windows XP themes are the culprit for these errors.

Microsoft has provided a hotfix to resolve these memory allocation issues. This fix should be included in their service pack 3. (Click here for additional information on this issue.)

We have included the hotfix on our ftp site here:

Installation Instructions:

Important: You must have Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed on the computer before applying this fix. Do not install this hotfix on computers running Windows XP without service packs installed. You do not need this fix if you are running Windows XP SP1.

  1. Download the .zip file from the above link.

  2. Extract the contents of the file it to a temporary directory of your choice.

  3. Three files should be extracted, two executables, and a readme.txt file containing password information in case you need it.

  4. Close down any open programs before proceeding.

  5. Double-click on the file named WindowsXP-KB319740-v5-x86-ENU.exe.

  6. This window appears:

  7. Click Next.

  8. The Licence Agreement page appears:

  9. After reading the license, select I Agree, and then click Next.

  10. The then updates your system with the necessary changes.

  11. The final page appears. It needs to restart your system to apply the fix.

  12. Click Finish to close the installation wizard and restart your system.

  13. After your system restarts, the hotfix is applied.
